Connecting personalized navigation and search to the phone, the computer and the car
Scout for Cars connects the car with your phone and the cloud. With the growing use of smartphones and mobile services, consumers increasingly want and expect to access their personal information in the car. With current tools, drivers must deal with multiple apps and interfaces and constantly re-enter information on the go, which compromises the experience. Telenav provides solutions that make the transition from phone to car a seamless, safe and efficient experience.
Telenav’s automotive team works with automobile manufacturers to provide the technology, expertise, and award-winning navigation and location-based systems required to create flexible and integrated connected vehicle solutions.
Telenav’s Scout for Cars solutions include:
- Scout for Cars: Brought In — Allows the in-vehicle display to interact with the Scout® mobile app via Bluetooth®, MirrorLink, USB or Wi-Fi.
- Scout for Cars: Built In — An embedded platform that connects the car to Telenav's mobile services.
Scout for Cars: Built In — Bringing the cloud into the car
The Scout Built In platform pushes the boundaries of vehicle connectivity, offering a new navigation platform with mobile phone, cloud and deep vehicle integration. Scout Built In combines technologies from Telenav’s embedded and smartphone products to provide a consistent and personalized experience whether a driver is using Scout on their phone or in their car. Using Bluetooth, the in-dash system connects with a fully functional, standalone smartphone application to give drivers the ability to search, discover, and drive to places using one product and at a lower cost than most comparable in-car navigation systems.
Scout Built In can work with or without connectivity and brings the most frequently used features to the in-dash home screen – including commute times, local search, personal favorites, and recent trips. In addition, it addresses drivers’ top in-car navigation demands by making it easier to access addresses and points of interest (POIs) through voice commands and one-box search, a feature that allows users to enter the entire address or business in one step.
Scout Built In features include:
Personalized Information — Favorites, recent trips, and commute times automatically sync between the computer, phone, and car
Fresh Maps & POIs — Access to up-to-date maps and millions of POIs
Global Coverage — Content for maps and POIs in more than 60 countries and growing
Local Weather — Real-time weather and forecasts
Local Search — Integrated one-box search with automatic suggestions makes it fast and easy to enter addresses & POIs
Real-time Traffic — Drivers save time with live traffic overlays and updates that automatically reroute them around traffic jams or road congestion
Voice Control — Safety is increased as drivers are able to keep their hands on the wheel with voice-activated commands
Flexible Pricing — OEMs can subsidize the service for their car buyers or offer Scout for Cars as a premium service
Companion App — OEMs can use Scout for Phones or their own branded smartphone app to bring connectivity and services into the car
Scout Built In brings a single global navigation and search solution to the automotive industry. It is available to automakers and Tier1s in more than eight regions, supporting 16 languages and dialects. In addition, Scout Built In includes search and localized maps in more than 60 countries, which can be accessed through voice commands or a full-color LCD touch-screen.
Scout for Cars: Brought In — A seamless connection between the phone and car to enhance the personal journey
Scout Brought In gives drivers easy access and control of a full range of Scout navigation and search services, so they can keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
Scout Brought In can be purchased in the Scout app on a driver’s smartphone. Users simply connect their Scout-equipped phone to a compatible vehicle for an experience similar to a built-in navigation system, but without the high price tag, frustration of re-entering information or expense of upgrading maps and points-of-interest (POIs). Drivers also have quick access to all Scout favorites, routes, commute times, weather and traffic updates at a touch of a button.
Scout Brought In is formatted and displayed on the car’s center stack screen to provide drivers with turn-by-turn directions and voice guidance channeled through the car’s speakers. Depending on individual automotive OEM specifications, Scout Brought In can range from full-color moving maps to basic navigation prompts.
